‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Ending Leaks Online & It Might Leave Fans Furious
We’re only a week away from the release of Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel to the 2019 film Joker. The story picks up two years after the first movie, with Joaquin Phoenix returning as the Joker, and this time, Lady Gaga joins the cast as Harley Quinn.
The movie actually premiered on September 4 at the Venice Film Festival, a month before its theatrical release. Reviews came out shortly after, and now, many sources already know how the movie ends.
This brings us to the latest controversy, as the movie’s ending has reportedly leaked.
According to the leak, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker dies in the movie, with a shocking plot twist at the end that many fans are likely to dislike.
In TV spots, we see a courtroom explosion, but Arthur (Joker) survives. He escapes and reunites with Lee Quinzel, who breaks up with him after realizing he’s just Arthur, not the Joker.
Arthur is then arrested and sent back to Arkham Asylum, where another inmate offers to tell him a joke. Instead of a punchline, the inmate stabs Arthur in the stomach, leaving him to bleed out while laughing maniacally.
The twist is that this inmate, played by Jacob Lofland, carves a “Glasgow smile” on his face, similar to Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight. The movie ends, hinting that this inmate could be the real Joker.
This ending aligns with Todd Phillips’ previous comments that Arthur was never meant to become Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime. He was never a criminal mastermind, just a deeply troubled individual.
Further supporting this theory is a report from The Hollywood Reporter, confirming that Jacob Lofland has been cast as an inmate at Arkham Asylum.
