Kingdom: Ashin of the North, Revenge is coming in a trailer for a special prequel episode!
Netflix has finally released a trailer and poster for Kingdom: Ashin of the North, a special episode of the excellent Korean zombie series Kingdom that will focus on Jun Ji-hyun (also known in English as Gianna Jun). Co-producers are BA Entertainment and Studio Dragon. The director of the episode is Kim Seong-hun (who directed and supervised the entire first season of the series), and the script is signed by Kim Eun-hee. Kingdom: Ashin of the North arrives on Netflix on July 23, more than a year since the second six-episode season arrived.
The focus of the plot is the mysterious character of South Korean lead actress Jun Ji-hyun who appeared in the final seconds of the second season finale. Not only will he tell the story of the mysterious heir to the village of the northern Yeojin tribe, but he will finally discover the origins of the resurrection plant that triggered the avalanche of tragic events that engulfed Joseon and the woman they all abandoned – Ashin.
The trailer ‘underlines’ the woman’s thirst for revenge for the loss of the tribe and family as she discovers a strange plant that could bring back the dead. It also gives us an overview of the scary and action sequences we should expect from specials, including the vicious zombie tiger.
The main roles are played by the already mentioned Gianna Jun (Legend of the Blue Sea) as an adult Ashin, Kim Sia (The House of Us) as a young Ashin and Park Byung-eun who will reprise her role as the royal commander Min Chi-rock.
