‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Releases New Poster Ahead of May Premiere
The Planet of the Apes reboot franchise has been one of the most successful reboots in history, with the new trilogy becoming a critical and commercial success. Led by Andy Serkis, the trilogy was built on a long tradition of similar films, managing to bring a lot of new elements, as well as keeping true to the idea of the original story. And while the trilogy ended, the reboot franchise is not dead, as a new sequel trilogy is planned, starting with Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which is set to be released on May 10, 2024, with early access screenings available starting with May 8, 2024.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set in the same universe, but 300 years in the future, as the Apes have taken control of the planet. Humans still exist but are considered animals, more or less. Ceasar is a name from history, with Noa becoming the new protagonist of the series. It remains to be seen how Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will explain Caesar’s legacy and the new world, but we’re hopeful that the movie will do justice to the original trilogy.
Ahead of the film’s premiere in May, the producers have released a new teaser poster for the movie, which also confirms the early access date. As you’d expect, you can check out the poster here:
Wes Ball is directing the movie, taking over from Matt Reeves, with Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison credited as writers. John Paesano is composing the score for the movie. The film will star Owen Teague as Noa, Freya Allan as Mae, Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar, Peter Macon, Travis Jeffery as Anaya, Lydia Peckham as Soona, and Neil Sandilands as Koro. On top of that, William H. Macy, Eka Darville, Ras-Samuel Weld A’abzgi, Sara Wiseman, and Dichen Lachman have all been cast in undisclosed roles.
The official synopsis for the upcoming movie reveals the following:
Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic, franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
And this is all we have for you as of the time of writing. The movie is roughly a month away from its premiere, and we are looking forward to seeing where the franchise will be heading after the successful original trilogy. Be sure to keep following us for more updates!
