'Knives Out 3' Reveals First-Look Set Photo of Benoit Blanc, Confirms Start of Filming

When the original Knives Out movie was released by Lionsgate in 2019, the whodunnit starring Daniel Craig as the southern P.E. Benoit Blanc was either doomed to fail or become a smashing success. The latter happened, as the ensemble cast full of big names made Knives Out one of the best films of the year. A sequel, Glass Onion, was released to critical acclaim, although with an obvious change in tone, and we have recently reported that a third movie, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, was in the works, with Daniel Craig reprising his role.

As of today, we can finally confirm that the filming for the movie has officially started, and we have also been blessed with a first-look set photo of Craig’s Benoit Blanc, which indicates a significant change in tone and appearance for the character, who is much more unkempt now. This might imply a somewhat darker and more complex storyline for the third movie, which would be amazing.

We’re aware that you’re all here for Craig’s set photo, so before we actually reveal more information about the upcoming movie, here is the photo you’re all dying to see (pun intended, sorry):

The first-look photo has been released on social media, and we are happy to confirm that filming has officially started. We don’t know how long it will last, but the movie is planned for a 2025 release date, as has been confirmed by Netflix, so there is ample time to create a high-quality picture if the script is good. The title, if you’re not aware, is actually the title of a song from U2’s album Pop, which continues the tradition of the franchise naming its films after songs.

Rian Johnson is back as director and writer, and it is now clear that Daniel Craig is back as Benoit Blanc. But, like the previous movies, Wake Up Dead Man is also going to have a star-filled ensemble cast consisting of Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack, Josh Brolin, and Thomas Haden Church. Tom Hardy and Lindsay Lohan are rumored names attached to the project and more names will probably be confirmed at a later date, but this is what we know as of the time of writing. It is worth mentioning that all these names have been cast in undisclosed roles so far.

The story of the movie is a big secret, but we just hope that Johnson will go back to the first film for inspiration, as the second one was less of a whodunnit mystery and more of a social commentary. Be sure to keep following us for all the updates!
