Lord of the Rings TV show premiere date finally revealed and the first image

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series has finally got a premiere date for its first season! Although it was expected that we would return to the fantastic world of hobbits and elves this year, it was revealed that we will have to wait until the autumn of next year for the first shots.

The series itself does not have an official name for now, but we expect to find out soon. Filming of the first season ended this week in New Zealand, and the start of production for the second season is already planned.

In addition to announcing the date, Amazon also released the first image from the first episode of the series. It is not known which character is in the picture, and the studio did not want to reveal any details.

The official synopsis of the series reveals how the new epic drama brings to small screens for the first time the fairytale history of the Second Age of Middle-earth by J.R.R. Tolkien. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events we saw in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, the series follows a series of characters – some familiar and some new – who must face the reappearance of evil in Middle-earth that they have long feared.

The numerous cast of the series consists of Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Muwidin, Ty, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman and Sara Zwangobani.

The first episode of the series set in the world of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings on Amazon awaits us on September 2, 2022.
