Love Comes Softly Movie Series in Order: How Many Are There?

If you’re a fan of romantic comedies, you’re probably a fan of Katherine Heigl, and if you’re a fan of Katherine, you’ve probably heard and seen at least some of the films from the Love Comes Softly movie series. However, the series spawned so many sequels that it’s hard to keep up with all of them.

So far, there are eleven Love Comes Softly movies out there, ranging from 2003 to 2011. They really picked up the pace later, though, as we had three Love Comes Softly movies coming out in 2011 alone. If you want to revisit the series but don’t know where to start, don’t worry – here’s the complete list of the Love Comes Softly movie series in order.

How many Love Comes Softly movies are there?

There are eleven Love Comes First movies in total. The series started in 2003 with the movie of the same name, starring Katherine Heigl in the lead role. The movie series is actually based on a romantic novel series written by Janette Oke.

Love Comes Softly movies in order (at a glance)

As mentioned, the list of Love Comes Softly movies is eleven movies long, spanning from 2003 to 2011. Here’s the complete list in release order:

  1. Love Comes Softly (2003)
  2. Love’s Enduring Promise (2004)
  3. Love’s Long Journey (2005)
  4. Love’s Abiding Joy (2006)
  5. Love’s Unending Legacy (2007)
  6. Love’s Unfolding Dream (2007)
  7. Love Takes Wing (2009)
  8. Love Finds a Home (2009)
  9. Love’s Christmas Journey (2011)
  10. Love Begins (2011)
  11. Love’s Everlasting Courage (2011)

The first film was by far the greatest hit, but the sequels were successful enough for the producers to make more for fans. In the end, some movies from the list felt weaker than the others, and a bit rushed, but it’s a good series, nevertheless.

What is the best way to watch Love Comes Softly movies?

The best way to watch Love Comes Softly movies is in the order of release. The movies aren’t all in chronological order (we have some prequels, etc.), but I highly recommend the series be watched in release order, as it was planned. That way, you will get the most suspense, drama, and overall understanding of the plot without either spoiling or missing some key points.

Where to watch Love Comes Softly movies?

Love Comes First were TV movies, and can be found all over the internet now. There are full movies on YouTube, but you can also find Love Comes Softly on Netflix, as well as on DIRECTV, Amazon Prime Video, and on Hallmark.

Do you need to watch Love Comes Softly movies in order?

You should watch the Love Comes Softly series in order of release to get the best insights into the storylines, plots, character arc, etc. If you watch it that way, the events don’t happen in chronological order as there are sequels and prequels in the mix, but it’s still the best to watch in release order.

Are Love Comes Softly movies connected?

All Love Comes Softly movies and their plots are connected, revolving around the same characters, or at least referencing one another in the plots. That’s why it’s important to follow the release order when watching if you want to understand every point properly.

Will there be more Love Comes Softly movies?

Never say never, they say, but as things stand, there won’t be any more Love Comes Softly movies added to the list. The last movies premiered in 2011, and no word of a new sequel of any kind has surfaced since, so I don’t believe the producers have any interest in continuing the franchise in the future.
