Marvel Studio Announces New Black Panther TV Show, 'Eyes of Wakanda'

Marvel Studios is expanding its universe with a new animated series, ‘Eyes of Wakanda’. Set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024, the show dives back into the captivating world of Wakanda, continuing the legacy of the Black Panther saga.

‘Eyes of Wakanda’ follows the success of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and the original movie, which was a global blockbuster. Fans have been looking forward to more stories from this rich universe, and Marvel is set to deliver. The announcement was made during a special event for the upcoming second season of ‘What If…?’, another Marvel animated series.

While details about the plot or cast for ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ are still under wraps, the title hints at a focus on the War Dogs, Wakanda’s elite undercover spies. Remember Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia and Forest Whitaker’s Zuri in ‘Black Panther’? They were both War Dogs, and their intriguing backgrounds could be a central theme in the new series.

Marvel Studios is also working on other animated projects for 2024. These include ‘X-Men ’97’, and ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’, previously known as ‘Spider-Man: Freshman Year’. This rebranding indicates a shift in direction, possibly exploring alternate realities in a manner similar to ‘What If…?’. In fact, ‘Freshman Year’ was initially linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe but has since taken a different path.

The creative shift is also evident in the animation style. Reports suggest that ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ will feature a “hyperstylized” look, distinct from the animation in ‘What If…?’. This fresh visual approach could add a unique flair to the storytelling.

Interestingly, an Untitled Wakanda Series was announced back in February 2021, developed by Ryan Coogler and possibly starring Danai Gurira’s Okoye. Could this have evolved into ‘Eyes of Wakanda’? It’s an exciting thought, especially considering the depth and appeal of these characters.

With ‘Eyes of Wakanda’, Marvel continues to expand its storytelling horizons, offering fans new ways to explore their favorite universe. Along with other exciting projects like ‘Echo’, ‘Deadpool 3’, and ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’, 2024 looks to be another thrilling year for Marvel enthusiasts.
