We already know that the MCU’s Phases Five and Six are basically set in stone already, as we know that there are now a lot of different shows that are scheduled for release. But one of the things that we do know is that Marvel Studios is now the home to Marvel Spotlight, which is a new banner that features stories and characters that are largely removed from the MCU and have events that don’t necessarily affect the grander MCU narrative.
‘Echo’ is set to become the first series to be featured as part of the Marvel Spotlight banner. But we do know that there will be more shows featured under this banner. We aren’t sure which ones are part of Marvel Spotlight, but it will be too interesting to speculate on the future of this banner. That means that we are merely guessing here. So, with that, let’s look at the shows we can see under the Marvel Spotlight banner in the future.
1. ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
We already know that Daredevil is an MCU character and that he will have a soft rest for his character in the upcoming ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Of course, Daredevil has a story that has become part of the MCU because he did appear in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and in ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.’
However, we are not dismissing the possibility that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will be part of Marvel Spotlight instead of the greater MCU narrative because Daredevil’s story has always been character-driven, which is the focus of Marvel Spotlight. Of course, in the comics, we also know that Daredevil’s story is often separate from the bigger and grander things happening in the MCU. As such, ‘Born Again’ might focus more on a smaller scale of events that focus on Daredevil and the characters involved in his story.
2. ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’
Introduced during the events of ‘WandaVision,’ Agatha Harkness was introduced as the surprise villain of the series. While she was powerful enough to give Wanda a hard time, the Scarlet Witch eventually took away her powers. And this is where the ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries’ storyline starts with, as the basic premise of this series will follow her quest to regain her powers.
The reason why ‘Darkhold Diaries’ could be part of the Marvel Spotlight banner is the fact that her story really isn’t necessary to the events of the grander MCU as, other than Wanda (who is rumored to be dead already), she isn’t connected to any other MCU character. As such, there’s a good chance that this series will be more character-driven in its approach.
3. ‘Ghost Rider’
People have been wondering whether or not Ghost Rider will be making his appearance in the MCU, considering that he has always been one of the most popular comic book characters under the Marvel banner. And if he ever would make it to the MCU, there’s a really good chance that his story will be under the Marvel Spotlight banner instead of the greater MCU narrative.
The reason why Ghost Rider is likely going to become part of Marvel Spotlight is the fact that he was always a Rated-R type of character whose personality and story aren’t necessarily best fits when compared to the other MCU products. There’s also the fact that Ghost Rider has almost always been a standalone character in the comics instead of working together with larger superhero groups, such as the Avengers.
4. Okoye spin-off
Another rumor that has been circulating the Marvel rumor mill is the possibility of a spin-off series that’s based on the Wakandan characters who aren’t necessarily part of the royal family. Most rumors say that the spin-off will focus more on Okoye, who we know has always been one of the most prominent Wakandans in the MCU.
The thing about Okoye is that, while she was involved in the events of the earlier phases of the MCU, she really isn’t too big of a character to have a series that will affect the MCU. As such, there’s a good chance that an Okoye series will be character-driven and will be part of the Marvel Spotlight banner instead of being part of the greater narrative of the MCU.
5. ‘The Punisher’
We saw a good run for the Punisher in the Netflix Marvel side of things, but we know there is no certainty as to whether or not the Punisher and all of the other Netflix Marvel characters are canon to the MCU. But because Daredevil is about to have his own MCU series, which may fall under the Marvel Spotlight banner, there’s a good chance that the Punisher will also make his way to the MCU in the future.
The reason why the Punisher is best suited for Marvel Spotlight is the fact that he tends to be a small-time local vigilante who doesn’t have any powers and isn’t part of any huge superhero organization. Of course, there’s also the fact that he is similar to Ghost Rider in terms of how he is best suited for an R-rated series instead of one that is open to general audiences.
Elektra was always often associated with none other than Daredevil when it comes to her storyline. However, she has earned a huge following in the comics as she did indeed become one of the most popular female heroes in the world of Marvel Comics. And because we know that more and more female Marvel characters are making their way to the MCU, it won’t be a surprise if Elektra finds herself getting her own series.
The thing about Elektra is that she is similar to Daredevil and the Punisher in the sense that she is more of a local hero instead of someone who operates on a wider scale, just like the Avengers. As such, it would be better for her to find herself in a Marvel Spotlight series that’s more focused on her character instead of the grander MCU scheme.
