Marvel’s ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ Beats ‘Absolute Wonder Woman’ as This Week’s Best-Selling Comic

Marvel’s “Ultimate” imprint has always been the source of some of the most fascinating stories from that comic book universe. Many famous storylines are part of that imprint, so it is not a surprise that the “Ultimate” imprint is one of Marvel’s most important assets.
Ultimate Spider-Man, which highlights a very different design and approach to the famous New York-based superhero, has been one of the imprint’s biggest titles and this week has, once again, proven that in a spectacular fashion, as Marvel’s “Ultimate” imprint managed to beat out DC’s extremely popular “Absolute” imprint.
In this report, we are going to talk about the impact of this comic book storyline on the market, as Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man #13 managed to beat its competition at the best-selling title this week, according to the reports we have.
The source of the data we have is Bleeding Cool, whose weekly charts are a solid reference because they incorporate numbers from a large number of stores (a full list can be seen at the bottom of the linked article).
They are not the ultimate source, as they don’t include the whole market, but the numbers they have are certainly referent, and that is why we have decided to share them with you:
No. | Title | Publisher | Writer | Artist | Price | Ratio |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Ultimate Spider-Man #13 | Marvel | Jonathan Hickman | Marco Checchetto | 4.99 | 100 |
2 | Absolute Wonder Woman #4 | DC | Kelly Thompson | Hayden Sherman | 4.99 | 90.4 |
3 | Uncanny X-Men #9 | Marvel | Gail Simone | Javier Garron | 4.99 | 60.1 |
4 | Justice League Unlimited #3 | DC | Mark Waid | Dan Mora | 3.99 | 57.0 |
5 | Amazing Spider-Man #66 | Marvel | Justina Ireland | Andrea Broccardo | 4.99 | 51.7 |
6 | Wolverine Revenge #4 | Marvel | Jonathan Hickman | Greg Capullo | 5.99 | 49.3 |
7 | Detective Comics #1093 | DC | Tom Taylor | Mikel Janin | 4.99 | 36.6 |
8 | Superman #22 | DC | Joshua Williamson | Dan Mora | 4.99 | 34.2 |
9 | Fantastic Four #28 | Marvel | Ryan North | Steven Cummings | 3.99 | 33.0 |
10 | Void Rivals #16 | Image | Robert Kirkman | Lorenzo De Felici, Patricio Delpeche | 3.99 | 32.8 |
This week sees a shift when compared to our earlier weeks, as Marvel is not dominating the chart despite having the best-selling title. DC is there with four titles when compared to Marvel’s five, with Image’s Void Rivals managing to grab a place in the top ten.
