Matt Reeves Weighs In on Whether His Batman Might Join the DCU
At the Golden Globes red carpet, popular journalist Josh Horowitz took some time to have a brief chat with Matt Reeves about his “ReevesVerse”. Among the questions raised was Pattinson’s possible integration into the DCU.
Matt Reeves shared his thoughts on the possibility of Robert Pattinson’s Batman becoming part of the DC Universe (DCU). Reeves mentioned that the main priority right now is working on the sequel to The Batman.
He stressed the importance of delivering this film properly and ensuring it’s done right. This shows that his attention is currently fixed on continuing the story he started with Pattinson.
When it came to the idea of integrating Pattinson’s version of Batman into the broader DCU, Reeves didn’t give a definitive answer. He said it would depend on whether it makes sense:

‘It really comes down to whether it makes sense,’ Reeves said, pointing out that any decision like this would need careful consideration. His focus remains on telling a good story in the sequel before thinking about broader connections.
Reeves was also asked if he would agree to such a move if James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, wanted it. His response was cautious and non-committal: ‘I don’t know, we’ll have to see how that goes.’ This indicates that the decision is not solely up to him and could involve discussions with Gunn and others at DC Studios.
For now, it seems that Reeves is more interested in crafting a solid sequel to The Batman rather than rushing into any shared universe plans. Whether Pattinson’s Batman will ever join the DCU remains uncertain, but Reeves’ comments suggest that story quality and timing will be key factors in making that choice.
