Max’s ‘Lanterns’ Adds Another Character to the Slate – Meet Zoe!

DC’s and Max’s upcoming Lanterns series is slowly shaping up to be a project that the fans really want to see. The show is gradually assembling its cast after suffering a slew of difficulties at first. Some intriguing newcomers have joined the group, and it appears that the show is still going strong in that department.
After casting its two main characters, the female lead and the supposed villain, the show is now bringing in another major female character, although she is still a big mystery, so don’t expect too much information at this point; we will still bring you all the facts we do know.
Namely, it has been confirmed that American actress Poorna Jagannathan has been cast in the series as a character named Zoe. As of this point, this is all we know officially, but there are some intriguing things we can take away from this casting, so please keep reading!
As far as the series itself is concerned, we don’t know much about the story of Lanterns. It is going to be Earth-based and inspired by True Detective, but all we have is an elaboration by James Gunn, who described the project as one that “leads into the overall story that we’re telling throughout the different movies and television shows. And we find this Ancient Horror on Earth. And these guys are basically, you know, super cops on precinct Earth.”
We know that the series will have two Green Lanterns – Hal Jordan and John Stewart – and that Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre have been cast in the main roles, respectively. Kelly Macdonald will play Sherrif Kerry and, as it seems, Jordan’s love interest, while Garret Dillahunt has been cast as one William Macon, who could be the series’ main villain.
Now, we can confirm that Poorna Jagannathan has also been cast in the series as a character named Zoe, and here is how the actress herself reached to the casting:
As you can see, the actress is quite enthusiastic about joining the project after having worked on major projects such as The Night Of and Never Have I Ever. But what about her character? Who is Zoe, actually? Well, at this point, we don’t know, but there could be something there.
Namely, we know that the series will focus on an older woman, possibly in the center of the mystery. We also know that Stewart’s love interest will be an older local woman, based on the rumors we’ve had. This could mean that Zoe is the character in question, which would mean that this is a pretty big role.
