Nobody truly knows how, but the world-building game Minecraft became a worldwide sensation and is undoubtedly one of the most successful and well-liked video games ever made. Although it’s unclear if the original developer of Minecraft anticipated the game’s success, his efforts are unquestionably worthy of praise because he created a game that changed history.

We previously reported on the live-action Minecraft movie, which is expected to be released soon, even though it appeared impossible. In this report, however, we have another piece of information that confirms that the universe is expanding even more and that fans of the series will have more to enjoy in the future.

Namely, a new collaboration has been confirmed between the creators of Minecraft and another major company that will bring the fans a completely new and unique experience that – we believe – the fans of the video game will absolutely love. Keep reading if you want to know more!

As you know, Minecraft started off as a video game that quickly captivated the whole world and actually brought a lot of gamers around the world a lot of joy. The game, despite being everything but a traditional game, managed to earn a lot of money and gather a lot of fans around one fictional world.

Since then, numerous derivative products have been released, including books and toys, but we also know that a live-action movie is being worked on and that Netflix, as we reported earlier this year, is working on an animated series based on the game. But that’s not all!

Namely, we can confirm that Mojang and Microsoft, the companies behind Minecraft, have made a deal with Merlin, the company behind Legoland. What does the deal mean? Well, it means that Minecraft fans will be able to enjoy several game-based theme parks in the USA and the UK that will be built by Minecraft. In light of that, Merlin CEO Scott O’Neil said the following:

This is a significant milestone for Merlin, which reinforces our commitment to reaching new audiences through bold and captivating concepts, and directly supports our ambitions for growth. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, and this world-first will see fans experience its thrill and creativity in real life, at theme parks and city-centre attractions in leading tourist destinations.

This initial investment is just the beginning, replicating Merlin’s tried-and-tested approach to globally launching new concepts and platforms, as we have with LEGO, Peppa Pig, Sony Pictures, CBeebies and others. This is an exciting opportunity for our Merlin Magic Making team, working collaboratively with Mojang Studios to bring cross-reality experiences, themed accommodation and other elements to life for the largest gaming community in the world.

And if you thought that was it, it isn’t. Namely, as it turns out, it won’t just be a simple theme park, but rather a source for in-game additions. Fans who visit theme parks will be able to get exclusive in-game content, although the details of this plan have not been revealed yet. We will definitely keep you up-to-date.
