One Piece is certainly one of the longest-running anime and manga series with the series recently achieving a milestone of 1,000 episodes. One Piece manga also had its 1,000th chapter released, which is a significant achievement for the mangaka, Eiichiro Oda. When the special 1,000th episode was released, with it came an announcement about the new One Piece movie titled One Piece: Red that should come out in the summer of 2022.
The movie should come out in August 2022 and the fandom is already getting a glimpse of what they can expect from the upcoming movie. The mangaka has shared some of the promotional art with the beginning of a new year, showing how the characters would be dressed in the new movie and perhaps hinting at what Luffy and the others are preparing for. Eiichiro Oda is the producer for One Piece: Red, while the script was written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa.
Goro Taniguchi is the director, known for the Code Gease franchise. The writer said that there were a lot of discussions and work over the course of two years between him, Elichiro, and Taniguchi. Kuroiwa also added that the movie is product of great effort with many people involved, advising the fans to look forward to the movie for a reason.
Although the release date for the One Piece movie has been released, it remains unknown when the new movie will air internationally. For now, we can all look forward to new promotional art as the Japanese fandom is waiting for One Piece to reach another milestone and release a movie in 2022.
