Nicole Kidman recently shared with The Guardian that she would love to revisit her role as Grace in The Others. This came up during a conversation with her Big Little Lies co-star Reese Witherspoon, who asked which role Kidman would want to explore further.

Kidman revealed that she has a strong connection to Grace, noting how the film is often overlooked despite her deep love for the character.

The Others is a psychological horror from 2001, where Kidman plays Grace, a mother living in a dark, eerie estate with her two children who suffer from photosensitivity. The film, set in 1945, follows Grace as she suspects the house might be haunted while waiting for news about her husband, who is away fighting in World War II.

The film was a critical success, with Kidman receiving a BAFTA nomination for her performance, and it won multiple Saturn Awards, including Best Horror Movie. With a budget of just $17 million, The Others earned around $208 million worldwide.

Though Kidman has yet to return to this iconic role, she has expressed interest in starring in a “hardcore” horror film. She mentioned in an August 2024 interview with L’Officiel that she loves horror and would like to dive into the genre, even referencing her admiration for director Ti West.

Kidman also admitted she thought James Wan was approaching her for a horror film when he asked her to join Aquaman. While a The Others sequel seems unlikely, Kidman is set to reunite with Sandra Bullock in a sequel to Practical Magic, based on Alice Hoffman’s The Book of Magic.
