F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu is a classic of Expressionist cinema and one of the most important movies in history. The movie was released back in 1922 and featured Max Schreck in the role of Count Orlok, a role that has been forever marked in the history of cinema. Murnau’s film has been an inspiration for many filmmakers and now, 102 years after the initial movie was released, worldwide audiences will get a new, somewhat reimagined version of the German classic, which will be released on December 25, 2024. We have already reported on this, and we can now confirm that the first teaser trailer for the movie has officially been released, you will be able to check it out below.

As for the movie, it is going to be directed by Robert Eggers, who proved his skill in The Lighthouse starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson and will feature Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok in the main role. And while there are still several months before the movie’s premiere, both Eggers and Skarsgård have spoken highly of the project and based on what they said, we’re in for a majestic experience.

As we always do, before we reveal more information about the project, here is the trailer for you to enjoy:

We have already seen some of these images and the movie promises to deliver in more ways than one, although we do not expect Eggers to simply copy Murnau’s classic, which is good if you ask us, as that movie has a unique value that can never be repeated.

As we’ve said, Eggers is directing the movie, while, alongside Skarsgård as Count Orlok, we will see Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Friedrich Harding, Emma Corrin as Anna Harding, Willem Dafoe as Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, Simon McBurney as Herr Knock, and Ralph Ineson as Dr. Wilhelm Sievers. As we’ve reported earlier, Eggers had a lot of problems with making the movie happen (at one point, even Anya Taylor-Joy was attached but later dropped out, only to be replaced by Lily-Rose Depp), but he praised Bill’s involvement in the project, admitting also that the young actor had gone through a lot to make this movie happen in the way that Eggers imagined it.

As for the official plot, Focus has revealed the following: “Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.

And that is what we have for you now. The movie is, as we’ve said, coming out this Christmas and we’re looking forward to Eggers’ take on the story, especially since it seems so promising. Be sure to follow us for more updates!
