Odd Taxi official website released a new trailer for the upcoming Odd Taxi movie, often stylized as ODDTAXI. The streaming of this humoristic anime series started in Japan the last year in 2021, in April. Since then, the series experienced great popularity and is most certainly preparing the second season to the delight of the fandom. In the meantime, the production behind the series announced releasing a feature film Odd Taxi, which is scheduled to premiere in April 2022. The date of the premiere should be April 1st, conveniently for Aprill Fools Day.
For now, the movie will be released in Japan only at this time, while the western audience and fandom will have to wait for the movie to come out for the international premiere. The first season had 13 episodes, introducing us to the life of a 41-year-old walrus taxi driver, called Odokawa. Odokawa is eccentric himself, but he can’t even guess how his ordinary job will make his life extraordinary as he is drawn into a mysterious intrigue.
Thanks to his passengers and their stories, Odokawa will be soon wanted by the police and the mafia as the conversations he is having with the passengers all take him to the story of a missing girl. This clever and humoristic anime show quickly gained traction and became one of the top anime of its genre. The movie will feature the story arc that was the centerpiece of the first season, while the fans will also get to see what happens after the events featured in season one. Whether and when the second season will follow, remains yet to be seen.
Given the popularity of the show, Odd Taxi might also get renewed for another season by April 2023. In the meantime, the first season qualified for Crunchyroll Anime Awards by the votes of fans.
