ODDTAXI TV Anime Finishes Blu-ray Box Campaign Higher Than Anyone Expected

ODDTAXI TV Anime Finishes Blu-ray Box Campaign

The ODDTAXI TV anime Blu-ray campaign ended on September 30, beating everyone’s expectations. While the “final” pre-order campaign bonus was set at 3,000 orders, as stated by Odokawa, the actual pre-order total was 6,038, doubling what was expected! In addition to thanking fans on Twitter, Baku Kinoshita created an illustration as a celebration.

As a result, the production committee gained 166.045 million yen (US$1.494 million) from the campaign, not including production costs. Originally, the production committee planned to make 300 Blu-ray boxsets if 300 orders were placed.

ODDTAXI aired earlier this year on Japanese TV as an original TV anime series, with the series streaming on Crunchyroll at the same time. Crunchyroll describes the series as such:

This town should look familiar, but suddenly, it’s not. The taxi driver Odokawa lives a very mundane life. He has no family, doesn’t really hang out with others, and he’s an oddball who is narrow-minded and doesn’t talk much. The only people he can call his friends are his doctor, Gouriki and his classmate from high school, Kakibana. All of his patrons seem to be slightly odd themselves. The college student who wants to be noticed online, Kabasawa. A nurse with secrets, Shirakawa. A comedy duo, the Homosapiens… All these mundane conversations somehow lead to a girl who’s gone missing.
