As most people are aware, the Pokémon franchise ultimately made the decision to expand its universe in 2023 and give us a new series with new characters, called Pokémon Horizons: The Series. The show debuted on April 14, 2023, and is presently airing in Japan.

The decision came after following Ash Ketchum and Pikachu on their adventures for more than 20 years. Ash ultimately became the champion in the series and the producers decided that it was time to retire him and usher in a new path for the franchise, which resulted in a new anime.

As for the series, Netflix is in charge of the series’ international distribution rights, and U.S. fans know that they can stream the series on the platform. Currently, American fans are waiting for the final part of the show’s first season, which will be released on November 22, but we have also received confirmation about the show’s second season, whose U.S. premiere date has also been set.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series premiered on April 14, 2023, in Japan, where it has been airing on a weekly basis, with some breaks from time to time, as is normal. As of the time of writing, 73 episodes of the show have aired in Japan, with more scheduled to premiere in the upcoming weeks.

As for international audiences, UK fans saw the first episodes on December 1, 2023, while other episodes were released on later dates. In the United States, Netflix released the first batch of episodes on March 7, 2024, and has since been releasing the episodes in batches.

So far, 34 episodes have been released, with the most recent batch coming out on August 9, 2024, but a new batch that will cover Episodes 35-45 will be released on November 22, 2024; this will cover what American audiences will know as Season 1 of the show.

As for Season 2, which is titled “The Search for Laqua,” started with Episode 46 in Japan, which aired on April 12, 2024, in the country. Less than a year later, American fans will be able to enjoy this season as well, as Variety confirmed with Netflix that the second season will premiere on February 7, 2025, in the US. We still don’t know how many episodes will be released, but we can expect the same number as before (around 10).

In case you’re excited to know what to expect from Season 2, here is the official synopsis:

The adventure continues for Liko and Roy as they travel the world in search of the remaining Six Hero Pokémon and the legendary land of Laqua. But to grow as Pokémon Trainers, a new challenge awaits — Tera Training!

Journeying through Paldea, Liko, Roy and Dot must hone their Terastallization skills and battle the region’s powerful Gym Leaders. Then, Liko, Roy and the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers resume their pursuit of the Six Heroes, including the black Rayquaza, as both they and the Explorers race to uncover the secrets behind Terapagos and finally find the path that will lead them to Laqua.

This is all we have as of the time of writing, but with new episodes coming out soon and the second season just a few months away, we are certain that there will be new updates, so keep following us for the latest!
