Dynamite Comics is set to launch an intriguing crossover series in March 2025, featuring Red Sonja in a brand new, thrilling adventure titled ‘Red Sonja Attacks Mars!’

The creative team behind this series includes writer Jay Stephens and artist Fran Strukan, who bring together a mix of sword and sorcery with retro science fiction and dark comedy.

Jay Stephens, known for his work on ‘Dwellings’ and ‘Tales from the Abyss,’ shares his excitement about the project.

He mentions his fascination with the classic Mars Attacks! card art by Norman Saunders, describing his writing style as a playful yet respectful nod to the eerie memories of his childhood.

Stephens aims to blend campy horror with mid-century style in a way that revives the nostalgic elements with a fresh twist.

In ‘Red Sonja Attacks Mars,’ Sonja is compelled by a life-debt to embark on a mission to prevent a prophecy of doom originating from beyond the stars.

Her journey from the southern deserts to the northern Vilayet Sea is fraught with dangers, including serpent-men, metamorlocks, and ancient deities, as she faces off against the notorious Martians threatening her world.

The series promises to captivate readers with its unique combination of genres and the return of the maniacal Martians from the cult classic Mars Attacks!

Each issue’s cover art, crafted by notable artists Joseph Michael Linsner, Jae Lee, and Greg Land, adds to the allure, making each a collectible piece in its own right.

In homage to Mars Attacks!’s trading card origins, each cardstock variant cover will include exclusive collectible cards featuring the artists’ work.

‘Red Sonja Attacks Mars #1’ will be available for preorder through comic book retailers and also digitally via platforms like Comixology, Kindle, and Google Play, as detailed in Diamond Comic Distributors’ January 2025 Previews catalog.

This interplanetary crossover is not just a new comic book release; it’s an epic event that promises to blend horror, humor, and action in a way that’s bound to have fans eagerly saying ‘ACK ACK!’ for more.
