Reese Witherspoon shared some exciting news about the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel, which will follow a young Elle Woods as she navigates high school. Reese, now 48, says filming for the series is set to begin in March, and she’s looking forward to seeing who will play the younger version of Elle.

Witherspoon explained that choosing the right actress has been challenging because there are so many talented young women auditioning for the role. She seems excited about the process and the fresh energy these girls bring. She even mentioned how it’s “a trip” to see someone else take on a role that made her a star.

The Legally Blonde franchise, which began with the 2001 movie, became a huge hit. It showed Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. The series made Witherspoon a household name and earned over $140 million worldwide.

The new show will stream on Prime Video and is expected to give us a glimpse into Elle’s life as a teenager, showcasing her unique personality and cleverness. Reese, who is also producing the series, hopes fans will enjoy seeing this side of the character they know and love.

Legally Blonde: Elle will be available on Prime Video, but Reese’s latest project You’re Cordially Invited, which she stars in with Ferrell, will stream on January 30.
