It looks like Lumon Industries is keeping the cash flowing for Apple TV+. The second season of Severance finally returned last Friday, and new data from Parrot Analytics (via Deadline) shows that the first season brought in over $200 million for Apple.

Parrot used its Content Valuation system, which links audience demand to subscriber growth and revenue. This method also tracks how much value shows add to streaming services around the world.

Compared to other Apple hits, Severance is holding its own. Parrot’s numbers reveal that Slow Horses made $184.8 million during the same time period as Severance Season 1. Meanwhile, The Morning Show raked in $299.4 million but took much longer to do so. The real star, however, is Ted Lasso, which reportedly earned $609.4 million from Q3 2020 to Q3 2024.

In terms of attracting new subscribers, Parrot pointed out that Severance has been especially successful in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and Latin America.

The show’s weekly episode release format keeps viewers waiting for their next dose of Mark S, Helly R, and Mr. Milchick. Brandon Katz, a Senior Entertainment Industry Strategist at Parrot, mentioned that Severance aligns well with Apple’s premium image and continues to bring in value long after the finale.

Nearly half of the show’s first season revenue came from catch-up viewings in the year following its finale. That might be why Apple is sticking with weekly releases for the second season.

Katz also noted that the buzz around Severance in the month before Season 2’s debut is comparable to big-name series like Cobra Kai, The Mandalorian, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This sets Severance up for a strong follow-up season, potentially filling the gap left by Ted Lasso.

Starring Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, and John Turturro, Severance Season 2 picks up after the jaw-dropping cliffhanger that revealed Mark’s wife, believed to be dead, is actually his severed colleague, Ms. Casey. Both seasons have received critical acclaim, and Apple hasn’t commented on Parrot’s findings.
