Eisner Award-winning writer Ram V, known for works like The New Gods and Detective Comics, is teaming up with artist Anand RK (Batman: Urban Legends, Blue in Green) to bring back one of DC’s most intriguing heroes this spring. DC has announced a new limited series titled Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma, set to launch under the DC Black Label in April.

This six-issue Prestige format series reintroduces Mitch Shelley, the Resurrection Man. Originally created by Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, and Jackson “Butch” Guice, Mitch Shelley is a unique character who gains a new superpower every time he dies, based on the cause of his death. In this new story, Shelley awakens from his latest resurrection with a new purpose: to save the universe.

However, this mission will push him to his limits as he faces a sadistic World War II internment camp captain who now possesses a distorted version of Shelley’s abilities. The series will see Shelley battling across time and space, confronting the chaos of the cosmos, and sacrificing himself repeatedly in his fight for universal survival.

This is a story I’ve wanted to tell since I first started writing for DC,” shared Ram V. “It’s been on my mind for a long time, and my excitement for the character and story has only grown. One of the joys of writing comics is the chance to reimagine characters in ways that reflect your own passions.

With Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma, I hope readers will join me, Anand, Mike, and Aditya on a journey through endless lifetimes, saving universes, and falling in love across all of existence.”

The first issue of Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma will be available for preorder starting Friday, January 17, at participating comic book shops and digital platforms. It officially debuts on Wednesday, April 2.

The issue will feature a main cover by Jeff Dékal, along with variant covers by Dan Panosian, series artist Anand RK, and co-creator Jackson “Butch” Guice. Guice will also contribute one-page synopses in each issue to recap Mitch Shelley’s history, with text by Ram V.

As a DC Black Label series, Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma is recommended for readers aged 17 and older due to its mature content.
