‘Rings of Power’: Amazon Reveals Trailer Release Date for ‘The Lord of The Rings’ Series

Premiering in September this year, Rings of Power, a The Lord of The Rings series is easily one of the most anticipated TV shows of the year. The series has already seen a multi-season deal between Amazon and The Tolkien Estate. It is one of the most expensive TV shows ever made with reported figures north of $1B.

While official information is little about the show, Amazon continues to release bits by bits online. A few weeks ago, it was revealed that the show will be titled The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. A couple of days later, character posters were released online.

Today, Amazon just released a teaser for when the full trailer will be available. In a video that is only a few seconds long, information coded in Elvish but any fan of the universe can easily decode it, it was revealed that the full trailer will premiere during the Super Bowl halftime on Sunday, February 13, 2022.

Rings of Power is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth – thousands of years before the events of the Lord of the Rings films and novels. The series is to follow an ensemble of cast of characters both new and old as they face the long-feared re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth.

Leading this ensemble of cast are Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Spartacus), Maxim Baldry (Years & Years), Robert Aramayo (Game of Thrones), Owain Arthur (His Dark Materials), Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones), Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.

Rings of Power is led by showrunners and executive producers J.D Payne & Patrick McKay. They are joined by Eps s Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado and producers Ron Ames and Christopher Newman. Wayne Che Yip is co-executive producer and directs along with J.A Bayona and Charlotte Brändström.

The series will premier on September 2 2022 on Prime Video
