Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting news about the game’s second trailer. Many of us developed the ‘moon theory’, believing that Rockstar Games was hinting at trailer release dates through moon phases in their promotional images.

This idea gained traction after a September 2023 GTA Online image featured a Waning Gibbous moon, coinciding with the December announcement of GTA 6’s first trailer.

In November 2024, another promotional image with a similar moon phase surfaced, leading us to anticipate a new trailer. However, Rockstar Games has remained silent, providing no official confirmation about the second trailer’s release.

Our attempts to decode Rockstar’s marketing strategies, including analyzing Take-Two earnings calls and past promotional patterns, have not yielded the expected results.

Despite our efforts, it appears that Rockstar isn’t using lunar cycles to determine trailer release dates. This realization has left many of us disappointed, as we had hoped for more concrete information about the game’s progress.

Looking ahead, Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that GTA 6 will transport players back to a reimagined Vice City. The game will feature two new protagonists, Jason and Lucia, marking the series’ first female lead. The initial trailer suggests that the duo will engage in various criminal activities.

Rumors suggest that GTA 6 will introduce exciting new features, such as more enterable buildings, the return of the basketball minigame, and missions inspired by the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. The game is set to launch first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a potential PC release to follow.

As we continue to await official updates, it’s clear that Rockstar Games is keeping its cards close to its chest. While the ‘moon theory’ has been debunked, our anticipation for GTA 6 remains high.
