Rumor Says DC Studios Is Working on a Mr. Freeze Project, and the Fans Want to See It Happen

Matt Reeves Reaffirms Trilogy Plans, Hints at Possible Villain

By now, everyone knows that Matt Reeves’ The Batman was an enormous success. Though it was always set in a different reality from the DCEU (and now the DCU), and will focus on a different Batman than the one Gunn is planning on using in his main universe, which was something we expected.

And although Matt Reeves’ solo trilogy appears to remain unaltered in that regard, the DC revamps brought about a number of changes. And while some fans were worried that such a revamp could mean the end of Reeves’ series, the filmmaker has recently confirmed that his trilogy is still happening, even hinting at a possible villain.

Fans have been speculating for some time now that Mr. Freeze is going to be used by Reeves and that the iconic Batman villain will finally get a proper movie treatment. Well, based on the most recent rumor, it seems that a Mr. Freeze project is definitely on its way, which made a lot of fans happy.

The rumor we have for you actually stems from a Twitter account, so take it with a grain of salt, as it is definitely not an official confirmation, but there could be something to it if you consider all the variables:

Reeves has already hinted at a winter/Christmas setting, and that would be the ideal setting for one of Batman’s most dangerous foes. Plus, Mr. Freeze is a grounded villain that would perfectly fit into Reeves’ crime saga and we have no doubt that Reeves is capable of giving him a great story.

In case you’re not familiar with him, Mr. Freeze, whose real name is Victor Fries, is a major foe of Batman, but also a foe with an epic backstory.

He was initially a gimmick villain associated with ice, much like Schwarzenegger’s character from Joel Schumacher’s film, but after Paul Dini’s treatment of the character for Batman: The Animated Series, he became one of Batman’s best foes. His backstory is a tragedy associated with his sick wife, Nora, whom Freeze is desperately trying to save, becoming a villain in the process.

As said, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, but we do know that Mr. Freeze has been one of the top candidates for the main villain of The Batman: Part II, so there could be something there. And the fans are loving the idea:
