George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise is a pillar of modern science fiction. What started out as a relatively ambitious space opera project became one of the most lucrative and popular franchises in history. Being present for several decades now, Star Wars has raised multiple generations of fans and it still remains one of the best fictional universes ever created.

But, just like many other franchises in recent years, the Star Wars franchise has been experiencing problems. Their latest project, The Acolyte, was at the center of numerous debates since its release and was, at the same time, both a victim of review-bombing and a project that received a lot of fan support. The series was canceled after eight episodes and it seems that this will influence the franchise’s future going forward.

Namely, a rumor by Matt McGloin at Cosmic Book News seemingly confirms that Taika Waititi’s planned Star Wars movie has been scrapped and that Laslye Headland is definitely out of the franchise and won’t be working on future Star Wars projects.

Cosmic Book News is not the most reliable of sources, and the site generally has a clear political stance when it comes to certain projects, so please take these rumors with a grain of salt (as you should with all the rumors), especially since they are not well-referenced and could be completely made up. In short, here is what McGloin states:

I was also actually told by this insider that Leslye Headland is done at Lucasfilm. Recently saw the news that The Acolyte has been canceled and won’t be getting a Season 2.

Insiders filled me in that the reason Taika Waititi is no longer doing his Star Wars movie at Lucasfilm is because of what happened with Thor: Love and Thunder.

I was told Waititi didn’t finish Thor: Love and Thunder, that it was a complete disaster, and that Marvel gave him the boot from the movie.

My insiders have said as a result, that Taika Waititi is out at Lucasfilm and not doing his Star Wars movie.

As stated, we don’t actually know if any of this is true or not, as there are no clear sources on this, and no one has confirmed this officially. We know that Waititi and Headland are not really liked on the site, so this could be exaggerated or made up, but we still wanted you to know the latest rumors going around as far as Star Wars is concerned.

The future will reveal whether McGloin was right or not, and until then, be sure to keep following us here on Fiction Horizon for the latest news and updates!
