Sebastian Stan Fires Back at Marvel Critics in Recent Interview: “It’s just f****** hard to make a good movie”
Bucky Barnes had a very rough, but greatly executed character development in the MCU, and from a villain, he has become one of the most popular MCU characters. His story developed in a proper way and fans began to feel for him in Civil War, but it was Falcon and the Winter Soldier that ultimately launched the character into stardom.
And while the fans were bitterly disappointed with the fact that Bucky won’t be appearing in the upcoming Captain America movie, we are going to see the character in the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie, where Sebastian Stan will once again return to one of his most famous roles.
The year has been quite interesting for the actor, and in a recent interview with Variety, he discussed the dynamic year behind him. One of the topics discussed was Marvel, and Sebastian Stan provided us with his honest opinion on the Marvel critics.
The interview given to Variety was a lengthy one, and in it, Sebastian Stan discussed several things, including his playing Donald Trump in The Apprentice and his MCU roles. As far as the latter is concerned, Stan revealed his honest opinion on those who are quick to criticize the MCU, firing back at them by saying the following:
“It’s become really convenient to pick on [Marvel films]. And that’s fine. Everyone’s got an opinion. But they’re a big part of what contributes to this business and allows us to have smaller movies as well. This is an artery traveling through the system of this entire machinery that’s Hollywood.
It feeds in so many more ways than people acknowledge. Sometimes I get protective of it because the intention is really fucking good. It’s just fucking hard to make a good movie over and over again. In the last couple of years, I’ve gotten much more aggressive about pursuing things that I want, and I’m constantly looking for different ways of challenging myself.”

As you can see, much like Bucky in the franchise, Sebastian Stan does not shy away from firing back at those who criticize what he likes.
While it is everyone’s right to criticize, one cannot blame a person who is so deeply involved with the MCU for defending “his” franchise, can he? This seems to us like a natural reaction and something that anyone who’s had a great time making Marvel movies should say.
Be that as it may, what interests us here is what you think of this. Do you agree with Stan’s view? Are MCU movies really targets of unfounded criticism? Or is there something there that can explain why there are so many critics? Please let us know in the comments section below!
