Seth MacFarlane Confirms He Is Not Planning on Ending 'Family Guy' Anytime Soon, Reveals Favorite Episode

When you hear the name Seth MacFarlane, you probably know what you can expect. The comedian has established himself as a very peculiar author, and when you watch a program produced by him, you probably know that you’re in for some borderline humor that does hit the spot but not always in the way you’d expect. MacFarlane is funny, which cannot be denied, but his humor has been divisive from the very beginning and you know what you can expect.

Whether it’s Ted, his Oscar hosting gig, or his most famous work, the adult animated series Family Guy, MacFarlane certainly knows how to draw attention to himself. The latter series, despite all the criticism, is one of the longest-running adult animated series of all time, with 22 seasons as of the time of writing, and it seems that MacFarlane is not planning on ending the series anytime soon, based on a recent interview.

In a recent talk with the Los Angeles Times, MacFarlane confirmed that the series is very much alive and kicking, and that he does not really plan on ending it anytime soon. Here is what he said:

Is there any reason why “Family Guy” couldn’t last another 25 years?

MacFarlane: At this point, I don’t see a good reason to stop. People still love it. It makes people happy and it funds some good causes. It’s a lot of extraneous cash that you can donate to Rainforest Trust and you can still go out to dinner that night. There was a time when I thought, it’s time to wrap it up. At this point, we’ve reached escape velocity. I don’t know that there’s any reason to stop at this point unless people get sick of it. Unless the numbers show that people just are, “Eh, we don’t care about ‘Family Guy’ anymore.” But that hasn’t happened yet.

It was a lengthy interview with not just MacFarlane, but also the producers and cast members of this show. If you’re interested, the full version is available here.
