Shah Rukh Khan Is Working on a Bollywood-Set Series with Netflix

As far as the world of cinema is concerned, we know that Hollywood is the biggest “cinema factory” in the world in terms of overall cultural influence. European cinema comes next, and after that… well, there are several cultural centers that have at least some global influence when it comes to the world of cinema.

India’s film industry, known as Bollywood, is certainly one of such centers. Bollywood movies might not be globally known in the same way as American or European movies, but the industry is both a large one and a lucrative one, as you might expect, which is why we’re not surprised that people are interested in it.

In light of that fact, we are happy to announce that Shah Rukh Khan, one of India’s biggest movie stars, has just struck a deal with Netflix to make a Bollywood-set series for the platform in 2025, so if you’re a fan of Indian cinema, this is the article for you.

Shah Rukh Khan is arguably the biggest Bollywood star. Known also as SRK, he is considered to be the “King” of Indian cinema and aside from conquering his nation’s cinema, he has also appeared in numerous Western projects, which increased his overall popularity.

As Deadline reports, Khan has recently struck a deal with Netflix that will bring a large, multi-genre series to the platform in 2025. It will explore Bollywood as an industry, and it “promises an audacious, unabashed, entertaining ride through the adventures of a charming, ambitious outsider navigating the glitzy yet tricky world of Bollywood.”

This certainly sounds interesting, especially since Western viewers generally don’t have the opportunity to explore Indian cinema, so this series might provide them with the necessary insight that might also increase interest in the industry and Indian cinema in general. Khan said the following:

“[The series is] a refreshing look into the glamorous cinematic world and what it takes to succeed as an outsider. It’s a unique narrative brought to life by Aryan, many passionate minds and the team at Red Chillies Entertainment. This one’s going to be all heart, all hustle, and a whole lot of entertainment.”
