Shenmue the Animation New Trailer and Key Visual Revealed, Release Date, and Details

Shenmue the Animation will be released as a part of Crunchyroll’s original content, adapting a once-popular SEGA game from the nineties into a mini anime series. Shenmue the Animation will only have 13 episodes and will air in February 2022. The game made its debut back in 1999 on the SEGA Dreamcast console and the pending series should capture the essence of the story and the intrigue involved.

To mark the approaching premiere date for Shenmue the Animation, Crunchyroll released a new trailer and a brand-new key visual as the fandom is waiting to revisit the story and ingenious martial arts featured in Shenmue. The series will premiere on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim, while the miniseries will be premiered worldwide except in Japan. Adult Swim will be premiering a version of the series with an English dub on the same day of the premiere.

Shenmue the Animation Release Date and Details

Shenmue the Animation will stream on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim, on February 5th, 2022. Crunchyroll will premiere the series at 9:30 pm PT. The series will be available across worldwide territories with the exception of Japan. The series will have 13 episodes that should feature all the intrigue and martial arts as seen in the popular SEGA game.

The story is set in 1985, in Yokosuka. Ryo Hazuki wants to master the Hazuki Style Jujitsu, training under his strict father from his childhood. However, everything changes for Ryo when his father is murdered by a mysterious man named Lan Di. Lan Di takes the mirror that Ryo’s father was protecting, which is how he becomes determined to find out the mystery behind his father’s death.

On the journey of finding his father’s killer and learning more about the events that led to his father’s death, Ryo gets stuck in a war between underground organizations, and his travels start from Yokosuka as he heads out to Hong Kong.
