High school student Reki Kyan is an avid skateboarder and often secretly participates in illegal races at the “S,” a racetrack in an old mine where Okinawa’s skaters meet at night. They also compete in beefs, which often turn out to be dangerous. When Langa Hasegawa, a new student who grew up in Canada, comes to his class, Reki takes him there.
And it soon turns out that Langa is not only interested in skating, but also has a lot of experience as a snowboarder from an early age. Under the guidance of Reki, who teaches him the basics of this somewhat different sport, Langa quickly outgrows his friend. In addition, Reki builds him an individually tailored board.
So Langa surprisingly wins against the skater “Shadow”, who is known in S, who likes to work with bad tricks, and then against the much younger Miya, who competes in the national team. This is how Langa quickly gained notoriety among visitors to S. They make a strict distinction between their nights on the skateboard and their everyday life – talking about what is happening in S elsewhere is taboo.
And like Shadow, a few more are in disguise and aliases skating the night away, including the chef known as “Joe” and “Cherry Blossom,” who’s a respected calligrapher by day. After the victory, a legendary skater appears to take on Langa: Adam, who once founded S. He is a local politician who supports S and is known to be an avid but also ruthless, sadistic, and unpredictable skater.
However, his match with Langa turns out to be surprisingly close – before it is broken up by the police and everyone flees. As a politician, Adam is also involved in some illegal activities and power struggles alongside S, so that an ambitious investigator is now breathing down his neck. At the same time, Reki’s fight against Adam becomes too dangerous and he makes Langa promise not to fight him again.
Although Langa has promised not to compete again, he continues to be at S’s with Reki often. Former competitors Shadow and Miya become friends, as do Joe and Cherry. But while Adam announces a competition, Reki finds Langa passing him with his skating skills – he is known to everyone at S as “Snow” and competes with the best.
Reki doesn’t know if skating is still right for him and stays away from his friends, especially since Langa wants to enter Adam’s competition despite his promise. Then Reki realizes through his boss, for whom he also works in the skateboard shop, through a confrontation with other skaters and Tadashi and while secretly observing Langa that he may not be as good as he is, but wants to support his friend.
Without Reki, he had already started to lose the fun of skating, which is now returning with Reki. A mysterious new skater who appears to be Adam’s equal also makes an appearance at the competition.
