10 Celebrities Whose 'Star Wars' Cameos You Probably Missed

Star Wars is undoubtedly one of the most important franchises of all time. Whether you’re a fan or not, you’ve definitely heard of the franchise and know some names from it. The franchise also made some of the actors who appeared in it into proper stars, while veterans who, sometimes reluctantly even, appeared in the franchise ended up being its best assets and are, today, best-known for their Star Wars roles.

But, there are those whose appearances we are not aware of, but who also had a role in the franchise, generally in the form of a cameo appearance. Some of them we managed to recognize, while others remained unknown until it was revealed that they actually appeared in the film.

This article is going to be dedicated to the 10 most important celebrity cameos in the Star Wars franchise, most of which you’ve probably missed while watching the movies or TV series, but that is why we at Fiction Horizon are here – to inform you of everything! (Note: This list is not ranked!)

1. Tom Hardy as a Stormtrooper

This is just one of many Stormtrooper cameos in the series, and believe us – there have been a lot. Of course, there was no way to identify Tom Hardy under that mask, so we cannot really blame you for not noticing it, although it has since become common knowledge. Tom Hardy is a well-known and respected name in the acting world, having appeared in hit films such as Inception, Legend, The Dark Knight Rises, but also in the popular television series Peaky Blinders. We dare you to find the Stormtrooper he played!

2. Keira Knightley as Sabé

Keira Knightley’s appearance in The Phantom Menace was most likely missed by a lot of fans, but not because she was impossible to find (like the Stormtroopers), although the make-up was great in that aspect, but because she was, at the time, still a young actress and was not a brand name. The actress later went on to star in Pride and Prejudice, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean series, so she became famous. This project is, in fact, one of the first major projects of her career.

3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Slowen Lo

Ah, this one was yet another one that was impossible to identify, as Slowen Lo is an alien and there was absolutely no way for anyone to notice Joseph Gordon-Levitt under that mask. Still, this remains one of the more interesting Star Wars cameos (he appeared in The Last Jedi), since it showed that some major acting names are ready to appear in a completely minor role in a big project. We know who Slowen Lo is, do finding him won’t be difficult, but don’t go looking for similarities with JGL!

4. Daniel Craig as a Stormtrooper

We’ve said that there would be a lot of Stormtroopers on this list, and as you might have assumed, this won’t be the last one. Craig is a major name in the world of acting, a very talented and versatile actor. Munich was one of his early successes, but he cemented his stardom by playing James Bond in several movies before stepping down in Spectre. Currently, fans are able to follow him in the role of private investigator Benoit Blanc in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out series.

5. Ed Sheeran as a Stormtrooper and Engi Golba

Most celebrity cameos are restricted to one role, but famous award-winning singer Ed Sheeran managed to play two in one movie. Sheeran doesn’t need an introduction – he is one of the biggest pop stars of our time – and we can only confirm that he appeared in an uncredited cameo as a Stormtrooper and the miner Engi Golba in The Rise of Skywalker. The fact that he appeared in two roles is definitely worthy enough for us to include him on this list, as it is a relatively rare occurrence in the franchise.

6. Sofia Coppola as Saché

Although her role is very similar to that of Keira Knightley, Sofia Coppola was far more famous when she made her appearance in the film. She is known as the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, one of the greatest filmmakers of all time, but she also managed to make her own career and is today a notable, standalone filmmaker who gave us the beautiful The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation, both very interesting and artistically complex movies that we love. Sofia also had a cameo as a child in The Godfather Part III, so her Star Wars appearance doesn’t surprise us that much.

7. Princes William and Harry as Stormtroopers

Yeah, another series of Stormtroopers (we’re up to 4, now!), but this time – it’s not a famous acting name under the mask, but two very important celebrities and political figures. Although at the time of their The Last Jedi cameo, they had little real political power, both of the princes were proper celebrities, and there was no way that this list could go without the two of them on it. This is also one of the more interesting cameos if you ask us!

8. George Lucas as Notluwiski Papanoida

The director himself also appeared in his own films, appearing as a political dignitary in The Revenge of the Sith. Due to the fact that he was heavily in costume, as well as covered in blue make-up, it is not easy to recognize him, but it’s not impossible if you give it a little try. Directors having cameo appearances in their own movies is nothing new, but we’re surprised that it took Lucas six films to make an appearance in his own franchise, but we’re glad that he did, as it is very interesting!

9. Simon Pegg as Unkar Plutt

Another one that is completely unrecognizable, Simon Pegg’s Unkar Plutt was one of the most vile characters from The Force Awakens, but unlike most of the names on this list, he actually played a somewhat important role in the film. He was the vile dealer to whom Rey was selling junk, and he proved to be a very horrible person. Simon Pegg usually doesn’t play characters like this, but since he simply voiced an alien, it was a very effective and interesting cameo that we definitely needed to share with you on this list.

10. Richard Armitage as a Naboo fighter pilot

We close off this list with The Hobbit‘s Thorin, who – way back in The Phantom Menace – had a relatively unnoticed cameo as a fighter pilot who can be seen in the background of one scene from the film. This cameo is a very interesting one as well, as Armitage managed to make a proper name for himself later, so we definitely though that you wanted to know that he was in Star Wars as well.

This brings our list to an end. Many other actors and actresses had cameos in the series, but we decided to list the most notable or interesting ones. Did you like or notice a cameo we missed? Let us know in the comments below!
