Stardew Valley, the charming farming game by Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, has quietly become a massive hit. As of December 2024 and as indicated in the official website, it has sold over 41 million copies across all platforms. This includes more than 26 million copies on PC and 7.9 million on Nintendo Switch.

To put this in perspective, these sales numbers place Stardew Valley among the top 15 best-selling games ever. It has surpassed major titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. This is quite an achievement for a game that started as a humble indie project.

In 2024, Barone released version 1.6 of Stardew content and improvements. This update arrived even though he had announced his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, three years earlier. Barone reassured us that Haunted Chocolatier is still in development, with significant progress made. Given Stardew Valley’s success, he seems to be taking his time to ensure the new game meets high expectations.
