According to Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine, the next issue of the magazine will feature a new manga adaptation of one of Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novels.
In the magazine, it is noted that the story will be “rearranged” from the novels’ Aincrad story arc, and it will feature scenes not shown in the anime, such as Kopel’s meeting.
The magazine notes that the manga is based on the original Sword Art Online novels despite the premise is similar to the Sword Art Online: Progressive novels. The manga is drawn by Kimi.
Kawahara began publishing Sword Art Online: Progressive novels in 2012, revising his original Sword Art Online novels. In the story, Kirito travels from the beginning, floor-by-floor, through the floating Aincrad castle. A series of Sword Art Online: Progressive novels and two manga adaptations are published by Yen Press in English.
Sword Art Online: Progressive will be an inspiration for an anime film adaptation titled Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night. The film will open theaters in Japan on October 30.
