In a recent discussion, Katsuhiro Harada, the director of Tekken 8, shared insights into the challenges of including Eliza, the vampire fighter, in the upcoming game. Eliza, known for her unique abilities like health regeneration and smaller hitboxes, has been a fan favorite since her debut in Tekken Revolution and later as a DLC character in Tekken 7.
Harada revealed that balancing Eliza’s gameplay has been particularly difficult. Even minor adjustments to her stats could make her either too powerful or too weak, complicating her integration into the game’s roster.
Her smaller hurtboxes also posed issues, as they rendered certain combos ineffective, leading to frustration among competitive players.
Eliza’s distinctive mechanics, such as her health regeneration and special meter system, set her apart from other fighters. These features, while appealing to some, have made her a polarizing character within the community. Harada’s decision to exclude her from Tekken 8 aims to maintain a balanced and fair gameplay experience for all players.
While some fans may be disappointed by her absence, the development team’s focus remains on delivering a well-balanced game. Eliza’s unique playstyle and thematic elements have left a lasting impression, but her return will depend on whether the team can address the challenges associated with her character design.
For now, Eliza will not be part of Tekken 8’s roster. The development team continues to work on creating a balanced and enjoyable experience for all players.
