Terry Gilliam’s ‘Carnival: At The End Of Days’ Finally Finds Producer, Could Start Shooting in April

Terry Gilliam’s new biblical comedy Carnival: At The End of Days has caught the interest of Andrea Iervolino, a well-known Italian producer. Iervolino, whose previous projects include Ferrari and Maserati: The Brothers, will finance and produce the film.
He’s also heading to the European Film Market in Berlin this month to find buyers and sales agents for the project, which could start filming in Italy as soon as April.
Iervolino describes Carnival as an ambitious and groundbreaking film that mixes live-action with a huge amount of CGI. He calls it one of the most expensive independent films ever made, with a unique and visionary approach.
The film is based on a script written by Gilliam and Christopher Brett Bailey. It’s about God wiping out humanity for ruining Earth, and the only character trying to save humanity is Satan. Satan is desperate because without humans, he has no job.
He tries to convince God that a group of young people should be the new Adam and Eve. Despite Satan’s efforts, God still plans to destroy humanity. Gilliam himself has referred to the project as a comedy.
Johnny Depp, Jeff Bridges, Adam Driver, and Jason Momoa have all been linked to the film, with Depp set to play Satan and Bridges as God. These roles are still unconfirmed, but Depp’s connection to Gilliam’s work, including Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, makes his involvement likely.
Gilliam’s last film was The Man Who Killed Don Quixote in 2018, a project he worked on for over two decades. Fans are hoping Carnival won’t take nearly as long to get off the ground.
