The 2025 Marvel vs. Godzilla Crossover Is All We Ever Wanted!
We know that the MonsterVerse franchise is extremely popular. What started off as a Godzilla and King Kong reboot became a major cinematic franchise that brought the studio a lot of money. More projects are being planned after several successful outings, but we can confirm that the franchise is also working on a completely new form of collaboration with another popular franchise.
Namely, it has been confirmed that the Godzilla franchise is working on a major crossover with Marvel Comics that is set to debut in 2025, which is a very pleasant surprise that we did not know we needed.
Namely, the major crossover event is everything we wanted and needed, but there is a lot of information to reveal, which is what we are going to do in this report, which will cover the whole story and reveal everything you need to know about this intriguing crossover event that is coming out soon.
Marvel is teaming up with Godzilla for a crossover event that fans have been waiting for. After nearly 50 years, Godzilla will face off against Marvel superheroes in a series of one-shot comics. The characters involved will include Fantastic Four, Hulk, Spider-Man, X-Men, and Thor.
This marks the first time in decades that Marvel has brought the King of the Monsters back into its universe since Godzilla, King of the Monsters ran from 1977 to 1979. The series will cover different time periods, with the first issue arriving in March.
In Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four, the famous Fantastic Four will battle the deadly King Ghidorah, a classic Godzilla enemy. This time, Ghidorah will have power cosmic and serve as the herald for Galactus, the massive cosmic entity known for devouring worlds. Godzilla will join forces with the Silver Surfer to help protect Earth. The comic will be written by Ryan North, with art by John Romita Jr..
Godzilla’s popularity has surged in recent years. The movie Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire made over $570 million worldwide, continuing the success of Legendary’s MonsterVerse. Additionally, the Japanese film Godzilla Minus One became a sleeper hit and even won an Oscar.
Last year, Godzilla also appeared in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, a DC Comics crossover.
Marvel’s interest in collaborating with Godzilla grew over time. Sven Larsen, Marvel’s VP of licensing and publishing, mentioned that talks with Toho, the rights holder to Godzilla, started out focused on reprints of older material.
As the conversation progressed, it became clear that both teams were excited to work on something bigger, as Marvel chief editor C.B. Cebulski said:
We approached them initially for our reprints, but a while after those conversations, it was clear that both of our teams were excited to do more together. These crossovers started coming together over that time, in direct collaboration with Toho, and we felt the perfect time for them was for Godzilla’s 70th anniversary next year. We’ve been thrilled to work with them on these, and we hope this will be a sign for more exciting projects to come.

Dan Buckley, president of Marvel Comics & Franchises, noted that Godzilla and other kaiju have always been important in Marvel’s history. The rise in Godzilla’s popularity made the crossover feel even more relevant:
For us, kaiju—and specifically Godzilla—are important parts of Marvel’s comic history, so we knew we wanted to explore something with their teams. We’ve always been fans of Godzilla, but with the steady rise in Godzilla’s popularity over the years, it’s part of our current cultural zeitgeist and a perfect example of the fun that the comics industry can bring. We’re focused on the storytelling first and foremost, but fun opportunities for crossovers like this give both of our fans an entertaining escape that they won’t want to miss.
