It’s been a while since we’ve talked about The Acolyte, but the series will once again be the focus of this report. And no, we are not going to talk about whether the show should be back or not, but rather about an interesting piece of art related to one of a small number of things that everyone agrees the series executed well.

What is it? Well – Darth Plagueis. The fabled Sith Lord made his debut in The Acolyte, and while the cameo was a tease for a planned second season, it seems that we will have to wait for another project to see the character once again.

A concept artist involved with the show recently released early concept art for Plagueis. Some of this art was used in the series. There is also an image that was likely intended for the second season. It’s a real shame that this concept art will not come to life.

Concept artist Saby Menyhei worked on several high-profile projects such as The Last of Us, Tenet, Ant-Man, Rogue One, and – most recently – The Acolyte. Among the things he worked on was Darth Plagueis, and the artist just revealed some additional concept art for the show:

The author of the image has asked us to remove it.

Whether you liked the show or not, the concept art definitely looks great, and based on the fan reactions to Plagueis’ cameo in the series, everyone would have loved this design. This is why it is definitely a shame that we won’t see it, as there is no announced Star Wars project in the foreseeable future that could integrate Plagueis into the story, so this is definitely a loss for the community.

How did the fans react to this art? Here are some of the comments (and yes, everyone agrees that they are awesome):
