Disney’s new Star Wars project, The Acolyte has been streaming on Disney+ since June 4, 2024, and despite all the controversies and review-bombing, the series is still one of the most talked about shows in the world, as the fans are going crazy over each new episode, especially after several moments in the series broke the canon. But, it seems that the series is getting back on track with Episode 5, which provided us with a major Jedi massacre, as The Master slaughtered five supporting characters and two major Jedi from the series, with only two survivors, both of them expected. This was a grim but necessary thing to do plot-wise, and fans of the franchise have started to compare Episode 5 to another popular Star Wars show.

Remember “The Eye,” the sixth episode of Andor? Well, many fans online have started to compare this episode to Episode 5 of The Acolyte, and when you think about it, there are some similarities between these two episodes, which we are going to explain below.

If you remember, a theory we agreed with foreshadowed the deaths of the five unnamed supporting characters, and The Master, indeed, quickly destroyed them in Episode 5, proving just how formidable he is. However, while the theory was right in that aspect, it failed to predict the fate of all the main characters. If you remember, Yord and Jecki were predicted to live through this bloodbath, but that did not happen, as The Master killed both of them, which was a shocking turn of events. Master Sol did survive, but that was to be expected, seeing that he is the strongest and most skilled of the ones present there.

And while the fans liked such a turn of events and were quick to praise the show, some fans also noticed how Episode 5 of The Acolyte was similar to Episode 6 of the beloved Andor series, saying the following:

“Haven’t seen a Star Wars show kill so many protagonists since The Eye in Andor.”

“They went out of the way to show that they were actually dead too. Yord with the neck snap and Jecki with the multiple sabers to the chest. The only remaining people who saw Qimir’s face are Sol and Osha so at least one of them is going to die….”

NekBodesh on Reddit

“Sol gonna sacrifice himself to make things right. And Osha ain’t ever going back to the Jedi. This show is called The Acolyte and it’s setting itself up to be just that. Not some happy ending for the Jedi involved. They are not the main characters and the premise is not on their side.”

“That whole fight scene was actually really well done. Choreography was amazing, some new moves sprinkled in, and the darkness with the glowing sabers was eye candy.”

As you can see, The Acolyte is finally getting some vocal love from the fans, and we think it’s great to see the show finally providing us with some great entertainment, although it remains to be seen how the show will evolve from this point onward. We do hope that it manages to maintain the same level of quality, and if you want to know whether that happens or not, be sure to keep following us!
