The Book of Boba Fett is nearing its season finale, as episode 7 is set to premiere on February 9, 2022. Fans were happy about the last two episodes because of the return of some of the most beloved Star Wars characters in history. But the appearance of those characters only led to questions that some people have been thinking about for weeks, as there are plenty more questions that have been left unanswered ever since the series aired.
That said, The Book of Boba Fett finale is set to answer a lot of the different questions that we may have regarding not only the series itself but also season 3 of The Mandalorian and the other characters that made their appearance in the most recent episode. That is why we are here to look at some of the questions that are going to hopefully get their answers in the season finale.
10. Is Cobb Vanth Still Alive?
At the start of episode 6 of The Book of Boba Fett, Cobb Vanth had a run-in with a group of Pykes, who were trying to get their spice into Freetown, and that wasn’t something that the lawman wanted for his town. He ended up killing all but one of the Pykes, who he spared to send a message to his bosses.
Later, when Fennec Shand said that they needed foot soldiers in the war against the Pykes, Din Djarin said that he knew where he could find them. That was when the Mandalorian tried to convince Cobb Vanth to rally the fighters of Freetown to Boba Fett’s cause.
As Din Djarin left the town, a familiar face in the form of Cad Bane entered Freetown to tell Vanth to stay out of the business of the Pykes. This eventually led to an old Western showdown that led to the death of Cobb Vanth’s deputy while the lawman himself got shot. Even though the townsfolk tried to help Vanth, it is still unknown whether or not he survived the encounter with the deadly bounty hunter.
9. Will Boba Fett Become The Focus Character Once Again?
One of the biggest things that fans of the show noticed was that episodes 5 and 6 were not about Boba Fett. While people loved the fact that Boba Fett brought in all of these old Star Wars characters, there are still those who are wondering why the series shifted away from the titular character and focused more on Din Djarin and the other characters.
The standing theory is that The Book of Boba Fett is the convergence point for all of the other series in the Disney+ Star Wars continuity, as we were given a preview of season 3 of The Mandalorian and the upcoming Ahsoka series. We also got to see the early stages of Luke’s rebuild of the Jedi Order.
However, given the fact that the series is named after Boba Fett, people would still want the show to focus more on the titular character. As such, we are wondering whether or not the finale will shift its focus back to Boba Fett, even though there are still plenty of lingering questions about the other characters.
8. Is Ahsoka Going To Return In The Finale?
Ahsoka Tano made her first appearance ever since making her live-action debut back in season 2 of The Mandalorian. In this episode, she was the one who greeted and spoke to Din Djarin about Grogu, as she eventually convinced him that he shouldn’t see the young foundling. Djarin still asked her to give Grogu the gift he had made for him.
When Ahsoka gave the gift to Luke so that he himself would give it to Grogu, the Jedi Master asked her if he would ever see her again. To that, Ahsoka said “perhaps,” an answer that can give us a clue as to what the future holds for her.
The general consensus is that Ahsoka’s appearance in The Book of Boba Fett allows us to see a preview of what is to come for her in her own spin-off series. But fans of the Clone Wars veteran are still wondering whether or not she will come back in the finale.
We are leaning towards the possibility that her next appearance would be in her own spin-off series. However, it would still be a welcome surprise if Ahsoka would ever return in the finale of The Book of Boba Fett.
7. Will Grogu Make His Choice In The Finale?
Grogu made his return in episode 6 of The Book of Boba Fett after Luke Skywalker took charge of his care in the final episode of The Mandalorian. In this episode, he was training with Luke in the ways of the Force while also re-learning the things he already knew to a certain degree back when he was training in the Jedi Temple.
After Din Djarin visited the planet but only managed to see Ahsoka, Luke eventually sensed that Grogu was still torn between his Mandalorian foundling identity and being a Jedi. And this became apparent when he showed Grogu the gift that Din Djarin left for him.
Luke gave Grogu a choice between the Mandalorian chainmail and Master Yoda’s lightsaber. He told the young one that he could only make one choice and that his choice would determine what he would want in life. Essentially, Grogu’s answer will possibly open up the plot for season 3 of The Mandalorian. But we are still wondering if he would make his choice in the finale or in the next season of The Mandalorian.
6. Will We Get To See Who Saved Grogu During Order 66?
In line with Grogu’s training as a Jedi under Luke, the Jedi Master also allowed him to remember the long-forgotten memories of his past life by using the Force. Of course, considering that Grogu is at least 50 years old, he lived through the time of the Galactic Republic.
Grogu’s memories revealed that he was in the Jedi Temple during the events of Order 66. Three Jedi were protecting him from Clone Troopers, who managed to overpower the Force users. But as the clones were approaching Grogu, the screen faded to black.
We know for a fact that Grogu made it out of the temple because he is alive and well 28 years after the events of Order 66. However, it still is a wonder who saved him from the clones back then. Could it have been a Jedi, a droid, or someone else?
5. Is Freetown Going To Join The War Against The Pykes?
Going back to Cobb Vanth getting recruited by Din Djarin, the lawman actually told the bartender of Freetown to tell every abled body in the town to prepare themselves for battle. It was likely that Vanth had accepted Djarin’s offer to join up against the Pykes.
However, we know that Cobb Vanth got shot by Cad Bane, and we are still wondering whether or not he is alive. And while the original plan was for the Freetown people to join the war against the Pykes, things might change depending on Vanth’s condition. We are yet to see whether or not they are going to join up with Boba Fett’s army.
4. Who Is Running The Show Behind The Pykes?
It is interesting to note that the Pykes have always been around in the Star Wars continuity, as we saw them in Star Wars: Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, this is the first time that they have played a bigger role in the entire continuity.
We all know that the Pykes are spice smugglers and are not part of the bigger picture of the Star Wars narrative. However, because of the fact that they earned a bigger role in The Book of Boba Fett, this makes us wonder if there is someone bigger and meaner working behind the scenes.
It could be possible that a more prominent figure had taken control over the Pyke Syndicate sometime in the past. There is a standing theory that it could be the Crimson Dawn led by Lady Qi’ra that is controlling the Pykes. Then again, this is merely speculation, as some fans believe that the Pykes wouldn’t have gotten a bigger role if there wasn’t someone more prominent pulling the strings.
3. Are We Going To See The Long-Awaited Duel Between Boba Fett And Cad Bane?
Dave Filoni, who worked on Star Wars: Clone Wars, said that there is actually an unfinished and unaired episode wherein Boba Fett and Cad Bane dueled. The duel ended in a draw, with the two bounty hunters lying down on the ground. Because that duel was never aired, the standing conclusion is that it was never canon.
Now that we know that Cad Bane is alive and well and that he has a metal plate on his head, it could be possible that the finale of The Book of Boba Fett will reveal that the duel actually happened and that Bane survived it. But, even if the duel did indeed happen in the canon, the fact of the matter is that we never saw it on air.
Introducing Cad Bane as the lead mercenary of the Pykes will allow us to see a possible showdown between the two legendary bounty hunters. It could be possible that Fett and Bane will now engage in their long-awaited Western stand-off.
However, considering how popular Cad Bane is, it might be questionable to kill him after only two episodes. Then again, having Boba Fett and Cad Bane dueling will allow us to see the story between the two going full circle.
2. Are There Going To Be More Last-Minute Appearances From Past Star Wars Characters?
There have been plenty of surprise appearances from different Star Wars characters in The Book of Boba Fett. We saw this in episodes 5 and 6, but even the appearance of Black Krrsantan early on was already quite surprising.
As we only have one more episode in the season, we are wondering if there would be more last-minute appearances from past Star Wars characters. That might be possible, given the fact that Luke made a last-minute appearance in the finale of season 2 of The Mandalorian. We might even see Han Solo for all we know.
However, given the fact that the last two episodes were already heavily focused on the other characters, it would be a shame if The Book of Boba Fett were to take the focus away from the titular character once more. The likely outcome is that the series is already done with surprise appearances and that the finale will focus more on the war between Fett’s faction and the Pykes.
1. Is There Going To Be A Second Season Of The Book Of Boba Fett?
As of this writing, Disney and Lucasfilm are yet to announce the future of The Book of Boba Fett. There are still no updates regarding its status and whether or not it is going to get a second season.
However, it isn’t uncommon for different shows to reveal the news of a renewal after airing the finale. It could be possible that the announcement will come shortly after the finale of The Book of Boba Fett becomes available for streaming.
Of course, there is also a chance that the events of the finale are going to allow us to see what’s in store for Boba Fett. In an interview with IMDB, Temuera Morrison, who plays Boba Fett, still wants his character to take revenge on the Jedi Master Mace Windu for killing Jango Fett back in Attack of the Clones.
There are speculations that Windu survived the battle with Darth Sidious back in Revenge of the Sith. And if he is indeed alive and that the producers will give in to Morrison’s request, we might end up seeing Boba Fett hunting down Mace Windu in the next season.
