The Book of Boba Fett Finale Tops The Mandalorian Season 2 Ending
Even though The Book of Boba Fett wasn’t so favored by the Star Wars fans as was The Mandalorian, its final still topped the final of The Mandalorian season 2.
The Mandalorian debuted in 2019 and started a new era for Star Wars, the era of live-action TV shows. We already have three seasons of live-action Star Wars shows, with The Mandalorian season 3 in the works, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Andor, Acolyte, Lando, and more Star Wars live-action shows in the works.
All those shows should be grateful to The Mandalorian, which combined many cameo characters in it, such as Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Baby Yoda, Luke Skywalker and others.
The Book of Boba Fett continued adding cameo roles to help further connect all the Star Wars universe in live-action shows.
Still, even though the show tried to replicate The Mandalorian’s success with Star Wars fans, it didn’t really manage to do it.
The Book of Boba Fett was good, just not as good as The Mandalorian, which all the scores show. Also, their best episodes were actually those without its main character, Boba Fett. So, once again, Mandalorian took all the fame, as well as some other cameos, like Baby Yoda, Cad Bane, Peli Motto and others.
With all that said, and with the show not really satisfying fans as The Mandalorian, the final episode of The Book of Boba Fett topped The Mandalorian season 2 in viewers (which is the only important thing for every studio).
It has to be said that the main reason for that was probably because they combined characters from both shows, and thus created a very interesting built up to its final.
Everybody wanted to know what will happen with Baby Yoda, what will Din Djarin’s role in the final be, will Can Bane manage to kill someone important, what about Luke, and will Boba Fett manage to stop the Syndicate.
According to Samba TV metrics (brought by Deadline), The Book of Boba Fett turned in 1.5 million eligible households to watch the final episode over its first five days on Disney+. Those same metrics counted 1.1 million household views for the second season finale of The Mandalorian at the end of 2020.
That said, The Book of Boba Fett did see a dip from its debut episode, which managed to get 1.7 million households according to Samba. That didn’t happen to The Mandalorian seasons, which both had more viewers for the final episode than for the first ones.
Will there be a second season of The Book of Boba Fett is still unclear, but these numbers are encouraging, and we believe it will happen, even though, the show was probably meant as limited in the beginning.
