The Latest ‘Spider-Man 4’ Rumor Speaks of a Team-Up with Punisher Against an Unlikely Enemy
The rumor mill for Spider-Man 4 is spinning wildly, with names like Venom, Ghost Rider, Black Cat, Daredevil, Mephisto, and Knull all popping up as potential allies or enemies for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. With so much chatter, it’s hard to know what’s real.
The surge in speculation probably comes from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures throwing around different ideas to settle on a story that works for everyone. There’s also a chance that Marvel is purposely leaking some false info to keep things under wraps. It wouldn’t be the first time a studio played that game.
What’s clear is that the script is still in flux. Reports suggest there’s a major rewrite happening, which might be due to disagreements between Tom Holland and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige. As of now, production seems far off since they haven’t nailed down the final version of the script.
A recent episode of The Hot Mic added more fuel to the fire. John Rocha mentioned a plan—though not confirmed—that would see Spider-Man teaming up with Jon Bernthal’s Punisher to take on Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk in a street-level showdown. Co-host Jeff Sneider backed up the Hulk part but was less sure about the Punisher angle:
In the comics, Spider-Man has teamed up with Punisher and faced the Hulk before, so it’s not far-fetched. If Marvel is planning a World War Hulk movie, it could make sense for Hulk to start wrecking New York, prompting a team-up between Spidey and Castle.
The untitled Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to hit theaters on July 24, 2026, with filming rumored to begin in August this year. Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is set to direct.
