The Mandalorian: Does Bo-Katan Die? What Happens to Her?

Share:

The end of season 3 of The Mandalorian allowed us to see Bo-Katan finally regaining her rightful place as the leader of the Mandalorians after she and her people successfully defeated Moff Gideon and regained control over Mandalore. However, we also know that Star Wars story extends far beyond The Mandalorian’s events and into the events of the sequel trilogy movies, which occur more than 20 years later. So, what happens to Bo-Katan, and does she die?

Bo-Katan will likely die in the events between The Mandalorian and Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens because there was no mention of her or the Mandalorians in the sequel trilogy. It is also possible that she is still alive but is far too old already, given that she has been around since before the Clone Wars.

Bo-Katan Kryze is one of the few Star Wars characters that lived before the time of the Clone Wars and went on to survive the events that followed the fall of the Empire. As such, she has seen it all and has survived almost all the events in the galaxy. So, in that regard, let’s look at what happens to Bo-Katan and whether or not she ends up surviving the sequels.

Bo-Katan’s Fate Explained

We all met Bo-Katan during the events of Star Wars: Clone Wars when she was a terrorist that worked under Pre Vizsla’s Death Watch to try to bring the older days of Mandalore back. While they succeeded in re-establishing the warrior culture of Mandalore, Bo-Katan contributed to the division of her people when she rebelled against Darth Maul, who was supposed to be their rightful leader according to customs.

Of course, thanks to the Republic, Bo-Katan Kryze was able to oust Maul and Death Watch from the position of power in Mandalore to become the regent of the planet. Then again, during the Star Wars: Rebels events, she rebelled against the Empire, which was occupying Mandalore. That was when she decided to fight back against the Empire and force the Imperials to bomb the planet and make it uninhabitable.

The destruction of Mandalore weakened the Mandalorians and dwindled their numbers down to a few scattered people living throughout the galaxy. But thanks to the efforts of Din Djarin during the events of The Mandalorian, Bo-Katan successfully united the different tribes of her people in trying to take Mandalore back, which was revealed to be inhabitable. But the problem was that the planet was occupied by Moff Gideon, the Imperial officer that was responsible for bombing Mandalore during the age of the Empire.

The Mandalorian: What’s Next for Din Djarin and Din Grogu?

In that regard, the season 3 finale of The Mandalorian was an all-out battle between the Mandalorians and Gideon’s Imperial forces. Din Djarin and Bo-Katan were able to work together to defeat the Moff and take Mandalore back for the Mandalorians. As such, the end of season 3 of The Mandalorian allowed us to see Kryze taking her rightful place as the leader of her people.

That means that Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians will now work together to try to restore Mandalore to its former glory after years of infighting among the Mandalorians led to the destruction of their civilization. Of course, this should take a while because the Empire had crystalized Mandalore’s surface due to the bombings that happened during the Imperial era. And the different cities of Mandalore are destroyed.

The Mandalorians also needed to do something about the creatures that started repopulating the planet while the Mandalorians were gone. As such, we know that Bo-Katan has her hands full in terms of what she and the Mandalorians need to do to make sure that Mandalore is, at the very least, safe and good enough for them to live in once more. But the good part is that plant life has started growing on the planet even though most Mandalorians thought that the surface of Mandalore had become too barren due to the wars against the Jedi centuries ago.

Still, the point is that Bo-Katan is set to lead her people to a new age in Mandalore. Her work is cut out for her due to how tough it would be to rebuild from scratch. But the fact of the matter is that she and her people are still alive and are now looking to thrive once more and become the mighty people they were known to be for many centuries before the Empire destroyed them.

Is Bo-Katan Still Alive in the Sequel Trilogy?

Of course, we know that The Mandalorian takes place at least five years after the fall of the Empire. The series started on 9 ABY, and a few years may have gone by since the first episode of The Mandalorian. But we also know that the storyline of Star Wars stretches 30 years after the fall of the Empire. That’s because the sequel trilogy takes place on 34 ABY, which is 25 years into the future from the timeline of The Mandalorian.

Bo-Katan vs. Din Djarin: Who Would Win in a Fight?

We know that neither Bo-Katan nor the Mandalorians were ever mentioned during the events of the sequel trilogy, even though they would have been powerful allies for the Resistance in their fight against the First Order. So, what happened to Bo-Katan, and is she still alive in the sequel trilogy?

At this point, we don’t know whether or not Bo-Katan will live long enough to see the start of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens because the events that transpired between The Mandalorian and the sequel trilogy tend to be quite mysterious. The timeline of Star Wars skipped a lot of years between Episodes VI and VII. The possibilities in that 30-year time skip are endless.

As such, likely, Bo-Katan’s fate is yet to be decided. Din Djarin once told her that her story is yet to be written, which means there is still a long road ahead of Kryze and her Mandalorians. It is possible that, somewhere down the line, we will see her ultimate fate and whether or not she will survive to see the start of The Force Awakens. After all, the Star Wars shows on Disney+ were created to fill in the gaps left behind by the huge time skip between Episodes VI and VII.

However, if Bo-Katan is still alive during the events of the sequel trilogy, she must be a very old woman. After all, she has been around since before the Clone Wars. So, if she survives the two decades between The Mandalorian and The Force Awakens, she would have to be very old in the sequel trilogy and has most likely retired her Mandalorian armor already.

It is also possible that Bo-Katan will see her end sometime between The Mandalorian and Episode VII. After all, anything can still happen. As such, we are yet to see the conclusion of Bo-Katan’s story. That means that we are definitely going to see more of her in the future, especially in the next season of The Mandalorian or even in the Star Wars movie that is set to conclude the events of the Mando-verse.
