‘The Sex Lives of College Girls’ Star Pauline Chalamet Comments on THAT Season 3 Scene: “‘I Was Red in the Face”

Premiering in 2021, the teen drama The Sex Lives of College Girls is now in its third season and the series is a fairly popular and beloved dramedy that explores a topic previously unexplored on mainstream television in such a way. It effectively combines real drama with a lot of humor, and it also has a very educational purpose, as it can help those who find themselves in similar hardships.
One of the series’ central characters is Kimberly, a benevolent but somewhat naive girl from Arizona who starts off as a freshman. She is played by Pauline Chalamet (yes, the sister of the famous actor), who has been doing an amazing job with the role.
The most recent episode of the show saw Kimberly experience a very embarrassing situation, but also a very funny one, and actress Pauline Chalamet commented on that scene and its impact on both her and Kimberly.
Episode 3 of Season 3 of The Sex Lives of College Girls, titled “Four to a Suite,” saw Kimberly cope with the fact that she is in a new relationship with a bisexual student. Fearing that she will not be able to meet his adventurous standards, Kimberly goes into a sex shop and buys a vibrating dildo for herself to… well, experiment a bit, we’d say.
But, while that was all fine and dandy, at one point, the backpack with the dildo falls down, and the toy is activated, causing her whole bag to start vibrating in one of the most awkward moments in the series overall.
You can imagine the embarrassment Kimberly felt – heck, we feel embarrassed for her – but the series handled it in a brilliant way and actress Pauline Chalamet recently commented on that scene for Variety, and here is what she said, while still blushing while replying to the reporter:
When the props [team] showed me how much the bag was gonna shake, I was red in the face. Mortifying. Like, ‘Please, can we not make it shake as much? Please!’ Oh my God! I really was trying to shut that thing up. I was like, maybe I can break it and we have to use something else. (…)
It’s young thinking. It’s very naive. It’s kind of like how I want to be an ally, and less about, how do you need me to be an ally. You’re starting from a place where it’s like, ‘This is what I believe fundamentally, and if you deviate from this thought, you’re wrong.’ So, when other things in life happen, and you start to kind of see things differently, you create more depth to your opinion.
