'The Spiderwick Chronicles' Series Releases Trailer Ahead of April Premiere!

Fans of children’s literature as well as children, will probably have heard of The Spiderwick Chronicles series, written by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black. The series follows the adventures of the Grace children, the twins Simon and Jared, and their older sister Mallory after they move into the Spiderwick Estate and discover a mysterious fantasy world they had not known about. The main series consists of five books, with three additional books that form the Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles series.

The book series was first adapted into movie format in 2008, when The Spiderwick Chronicles was released, receiving generally positive reviews but that was it at the time. In 2021, Disney+ announced that it had ordered a six-episode series based on the books, which eventually turned into an eight-episode series that was sold to The Roku Channel and will be released on April 19, 2024 in the form of a batch release.

Ahead of the series’ April premiere, The Roku Channel has also released the first official trailer for the series, highlighting the characters, some important scenes, as well as the overall style and atmosphere of the upcoming fantasy series. You can check it out here:

The series will star Lyon Daniels as Jared Grace, Noah Cottrell as Simon Grace, Mychala Lee as Mallory Grace, Jack Dylan Grazer as Thimbletack, Joy Bryant as Helen Grace, and Christian Slater as the ogre Mulgarath. Momona Tamada and Alyvia Alyn Lind will also appear in recurring roles as Emiko and Calliope, respectively. The plot of the upcoming series has officially been described as follows:

Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black’s fantasy series springs from page ot the big screen with the 2008 release of The Spiderwick Chronicles, directed by Mark Waters. A recent divorcee named Helen moves into an abandoned estate with her three children intent on starting over. However her children discover a book left behind by their uncle, Arthur Spiderwick, and the secrets of a fantasy realm that set them up on an unforgettable adventure into the realm of creatures and faeries.

The series will premiere on The Roku Channel on April 19, 2024, and will be available to stream for free.
