The Thing Is Getting a Solo Series Before the Release of ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’
If he is not the most popular member of the Fantastic Four, The Thing is definitely the most recognizable one, which definitely contributes to the popularity of this character among Marvel fans, as you might have guessed. Well, fans of The Thing will soon get to enjoy a major new series from Marvel!
As you know, Marvel’s comics are developing independently in relation to the MCU, but sometimes the two worlds collide. Or at least try to collide. Which is what is going to happen in March 2025 when the new series comes out, just months before the premiere of the new Fantastic Four: First Steps movie.
The new comic book series will be a limited series focusing on The Thing and in this report, we are going to provide you with a proper introduction that will reveal everything you need to know about this exciting new series that will be launching soon!
As said, The Thing is a fairly popular character. He is not the most popular one, but there is something special about him that the fans like and that the comic book writers are willing to explore to craft new stories that the fans will love in the future. This is what Marvel is working on now, as a new series is being prepared.
The series comes from Tony Fleecs, who made his Marvel Comics debut earlier this year in Venom War: Wolverine #1, and who will write the five-part limited series that will see The Thing take down a major criminal conspiracy that takes him back to his childhood. The official synopsis reveals the following information about the series:
Ben Grimm may be the strongest member of The Fantastic Four, but once upon a time, he was just a scrawny kid from Yancy Street. When an unexpected visitor from his past sends him on a search for a missing child, the Thing must unravel the mystery, even if that means becoming a wanted man!
Get ready to see the Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing versus every super-powered criminal and bounty hunter in New York City! Fleecs and Kirk give a glimpse into the history of the Thing that reminds you why Ben Grimm is the heart of the Marvel Universe… and why you don’t want to let him hear you say that!

As you can see, many villains are teased here, and while we don’t believe that the series will feature a major canon-changing story, we think that it is definitely going to be very exciting, an opinion shared by the comic’s author:
What I love about Ben Grimm is that he’s just a regular hardworking guy—who happens to have superpowers. He’s Jack Kirby. He’s not easily impressed by all of the outlandish, cosmic stuff constantly going on around him. The fun thing about this book is trying to figure out — ‘okay, then what WOULD surprise the Thing?
What WOULD catch him off guard?’ In that spirit, we’re throwing every villain in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe at him. Trying to pit him against some opponents that you wouldn’t expect. We’ve got Leonard Kirk drawing The Thing! Believe me, you’re gonna see ol’ Benjy clobber some guys he’s never clobbered before.
