Tom Holland Set to Star in an Adaptation of John Grisham’s ‘The Partner’
Tom Holland has struck a deal to star in and produce The Partner, a drama based on John Grisham’s 1997 bestseller, an exclusive report by Deadline reveals. The script is being crafted by Graham Moore, known for The Imitation Game, and Universal is backing the project.
Grisham’s novels have a history of turning into big hits for both stars and directors. In the past, they’ve catapulted actors like Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, and Denzel Washington to new heights with films like A Time To Kill, The Firm, and The Pelican Brief. These adaptations became must-see movies, pairing top talent with gripping legal dramas.
Holland, fresh off a break from acting after his demanding role in The Crowded Room, is quickly filling his schedule again. He’s not just leading The Partner but also starring in Universal’s The Odyssey—a project loaded with big names like Zendaya, Matt Damon, and Anne Hathaway.
On top of that, Holland is gearing up for his fourth Spider-Man film and likely appearances in upcoming Avengers movies.
In The Partner, Holland will dive into the role of Patrick Lanigan, a lawyer who fakes his death and steals $90 million from his crooked firm. After starting a new life in South America, Lanigan’s past catches up with him, forcing a return to face the consequences.
Originally, The Partner was planned as a follow-up to The Blind Side by John Lee Hancock but stalled. Now, with Holland’s new production company, Billy17, joining forces with Rideback, the project is back on track.
