Troy Baker, renowned for his roles as Joel in ‘The Last of Us’ and Sam Drake in the ‘Uncharted’ series, is set to collaborate once more with Naughty Dog. In a recent GQ profile, it was confirmed that Baker will feature in studio head Neil Druckmann’s upcoming project. Druckmann expressed his enthusiasm, stating, ‘In a heartbeat, I would always work with Troy.‘
While specific details about Baker’s role and the game itself remain under wraps, it’s known that Naughty Dog is developing multiple single-player titles. Druckmann has emphasized the studio’s commitment to crafting experiences rich in story and character, particularly focusing on relationships.
Speculation about the nature of these projects has been fueled by various hints. Notably, posters with fantasy elements were spotted in ‘The Last of Us Part 1’, leading some to believe a fantasy-themed game might be in development.
Additionally, in early 2021, senior concept artist Hyoung Nam shared artwork depicting a warrior atop a slain dragon. Although Nam later clarified these pieces were tributes to ‘Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’, they have continued to spark curiosity.
Beyond his work with Naughty Dog, Baker is set to voice Indiana Jones in MachineGames’ upcoming release, ‘The Great Circle’. Early impressions suggest that Baker’s portrayal captures the essence of a young Harrison Ford, adding authenticity to the character.
As we await more information on Naughty Dog’s forthcoming projects, the reunion of Baker and Druckmann hints at another compelling narrative experience on the horizon.
