Undead Unluck just dropped big news via it official social media profile. Yoshifumi Tozuka’s manga will wrap up with two final volumes—26 and 27—both set to release in April. But there’s a twist. The last volume will include brand-new chapters that have never been seen before.

Tozuka first introduced the series as a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump back in January 2019. A year later, it became a full-fledged serialization. The story ran for four years before ending last week. Meanwhile, Viz Media handled the English release, bringing the manga online in 2020 and to print in 2021. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus also published it digitally.

The story follows Fuuko, a girl who just wants a love story like the ones in her favorite shojo manga. But her ability, Unluck, makes romance impossible. Just when she’s at her lowest, she meets Andy—a guy who actually wants her bad luck to help him die. Their chaotic partnership takes an unexpected turn when a secret organization starts hunting them.

Undead Unluck gained serious attention, ranking #14 on the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2021 list for male readers. It also won the sixth Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō award in August 2020.

The series made the jump to anime in October 2023, streaming on Hulu. It wrapped up in March 2024 after 24 episodes. But the story isn’t over yet. A brand-new one-hour anime special is set to arrive in the winter of 2025. This won’t be just another adaptation—Tozuka himself is writing an original story for it, even designing a brand-new UMA creature.
