Nikki Glaser took the stage as host of the Golden Globes on Sunday, bringing her signature humor and sharp wit to the event she jokingly dubbed “Ozempic’s biggest night.” No one was off-limits as she roasted nominees, streamers, and even music mogul Diddy.
One of her standout moments came when Glaser applauded Zendaya for her role in Challengers before pivoting to a jab at Diddy. “That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card,” she quipped, catching the audience by surprise.
She followed up with, “I mean, seriously. Oh no, no, I know, I’m sorry, I’m upset too. The afterparty’s not going to be as good this year, but we have to move on!”
Glaser didn’t dive straight into the deep end, though. She began the night by reflecting on the achievements of the actors in 2024, adding a cheeky observation: “Except tell the country who to vote for.” She lightheartedly suggested celebrity endorsements might work in the next election, “if there is one.”
Politics weren’t entirely off the table for Glaser, either. While poking fun at the Globes’ focus on both film and television, she slyly referenced a viral phrase from the Wicked press tour before taking a jab at a Trump-era cabinet member.
“‘The Bear’, ‘The Penguin’, ‘Baby Reindeer’ — these are not just things found in RFK’s freezer. These are TV shows nominated tonight!” she joked, earning big laughs.
The comedian’s sharp humor extended to the stars in the room, including Timothée Chalamet. She joked his last name sounded like a noise Adam Sandler might make — prompting Sandler to oblige — before turning to Chalamet’s appearance, teasing, “You have the most gorgeous eyelashes on your upper lip.”
Even Wicked wasn’t safe from Glaser’s humor. She playfully critiqued complaints about the movie’s color grading and performances before taking a swipe at another major film. “I’m sorry, Joker 2, where’s their table? Oh, they’re not here. That’s right,” she said with a grin.
Despite all the roasting, Glaser ended the night with some lighthearted advice for those who wouldn’t win an award. “The point of making art is to make a tequila brand so popular, that you never have to make art again,” she joked, leaving the room laughing.
